Please meet the residents.......![]() This would be Codi |
Being the longest living inmate of the three, Codi has developed somewhat of an attitude and has decided that she will come first....no matter what. She was born in September of '97 and came to me through my veteranarian. It was a very sad day for me before I met Codi, I was visiting Dr. Clement to have my very best friend put down. Her name was Sugar. She was a black Peek-a-Poo whom I have had for 18 years and adored with every bit of my heart and soul. As we were sitting there waiting for that dreadful moment, I noticed some movement in the cages just in front of me. When I got up to see, there were two of the cutest little kittens I had ever seen ! Just as I walked up to the cage, Codi immediately stuck her arm out from behind the bars and touched Sugar as if she knew. I could not get this image out of my mind. When I came back to pick up Sugar's ashes about 4 days later, the two little kittens were still there. I went over to the cage and there was Codi just sitting there looking at me as cute as can be. I decided that I could not go through this heartache again and I went home. The next day I called the veteranarian's office and asked if anyone had adopted either of the two kittens and when she said no....I put Codi on layaway and picked her up that very same day. I felt bad leaving the other kitty by himself, so I prayed someone would adopt him soon. Of course I called back to check.....he was gone, my prayers had been answered !

Now Calvin, on the other hand, was plucked from misery at our local shelter because Codi's best friend for a very short three years, Casey, was sadly put to sleep very suddenly after contracting an upper respiratory infection which could not be treated. Codi was very sad and lonely and it broke my heart to hear her crying each day not knowing why her best friend wasn't with her. I had finally heard enough and off to the animal shelter I went. There were no kittens to choose from, but I wasn't leaving empty handed. The pickins' were slim, but when I spotted Calvin and read his profile, something told me I should take him to the "get acquainted" room and check him out. He immediately started playing with the toy that was in the room and when I called him, he came to me. He let me pet him and then he checked me out. We accepted each other and home we went ! His persistance and charm finally won Codi's affection and they have lived happily ever after since. Funny thing about Calvin....he's just about the same age as Codi and looks exactly like the other kitten that was in the cage with Codi when I adopted her.....hummmmm. |
And now......![]() Please meet Calvin

Last but not least......my precious little gift![]() |
Casi is the newest member of my kitty family. After two of her female cats gave birth to six kittens each, I finally drove home the importance of having them spayed to a friend, who in the past was very laxed in doing this, but not before Casi was born. I almost didn't get her because my friend insisted she was going to keep her for the simple fact that Casi was the spitting image of her mother. I had a feeling that when the kittens started growing and playing and running around, my friend would begin to think about homes for them...and I was right !! She finally gave in and Casi was mine ! Well, again Codi didn't speak to me for a week or so but when she saw how Calvin took to Casi, her attitude changed. I think Codi was jealous and figured if she was to get the attention of Calvin again, she had better start showing some acceptance.
